Taxonomy

The Foundation's group › category › assetClass tiers, with the Allium and RWA.xyz vocabularies that sit beside them.

Every registry item carries three classification views: the Solana Foundation data team's own taxonomy in group, category and assetClass, Allium's in alliumClass, and RWA.xyz's in rwaClass. This page lists the vocabularies as they stand today. The data team adds classes and reclassifies assets as the market changes, so treat the counts as illustrative and read the live values from the API rather than hard-coding them.

The Foundation taxonomy

The three tiers form a strict tree: each assetClass belongs to one category, each category to one group. The list endpoint filters on all three (group, category, class) as case-sensitive, exact-match values, spelled exactly as the API returns them — Fiat-Backed, not fiat-backed; ETF / Indices with the spaces around the slash. Combine filters freely; a class filter on its own is already unambiguous.

Counts below are the number of registry items in each class at the time of writing (3,293 in total).

Crypto Native

Assets whose value comes from a blockchain protocol rather than an off-chain claim. About 500 items.

Allium classification

alliumClass is Allium's view. It is a flat, lowercase vocabulary with no tiers, and it groups by economic exposure rather than instrument — so Allium's rates spans what the Foundation splits into US Treasuries and other Fixed Income classes, and credit collects the Foundation's structured-credit and private-credit classes.

alliumClassCovers
equitiesTokenized stocks, ETFs and indices.
stablecoinsFiat- and crypto-backed stablecoins.
ratesTreasury and other rate-bearing instruments.
private_fundsTokenized fund interests.
creditStructured and private credit.
commoditiesTokenized metals and other commodities.

alliumClass is null for most crypto-native assets. alliumValueUsd is Allium's on-chain value for the mint in USD.

RWA.xyz classification

rwaClass is RWA.xyz's view. Like Allium's it is flat, but it is finer-grained on the credit side and uses title-case names. It classifies by product type: where the Foundation has one Other Structured Credit class, RWA.xyz distinguishes Specialty Finance, Corporate Credit, Asset-Backed Credit and Diversified Credit.

rwaClassCovers
StocksTokenized equities.
StablecoinsStablecoins.
US Treasury DebtTokenized US Treasuries.
CommoditiesTokenized commodities.
Specialty FinanceNiche lending and receivables products.
Corporate CreditTokenized corporate loans and bonds.
Asset-Backed CreditCredit backed by pools of assets.
Diversified CreditMulti-strategy credit funds.
Real EstateTokenized property.
Private EquityTokenized private equity and venture interests.
Active StrategiesActively managed tokenized strategies.

rwaClass is null where RWA.xyz does not cover the mint. rwaValueUsd is RWA.xyz's on-chain value for the mint in USD.

One asset, three views

USDC (EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v) shows how the views line up:

{
  "group": "Stablecoins",
  "category": "Fiat-Backed",
  "assetClass": "USD Stablecoins",
  "alliumClass": "stablecoins",
  "rwaClass": "Stablecoins",
  "assetId": "usd"
}

The Foundation taxonomy is the one the list endpoint filters on. Allium and RWA.xyz classes are returned on every item but are not filterable; filter by the Foundation tier and read the provider classes from the results. Credit the provider when you display their class or value.
